International Transtar II Engine

Does anyone know what engine comes in the Ertl International Transtar II COE? It looks like a V8 of some sort, but I can't tell what kind.

290 horse Detroit it says on the box.

yes it's a v8 Detroit

Ok, thanks. I haven't gotten mine yet, and I was curious. So, that sounds like an 8V71.

My1:1 had the 318 Detroit! Great flatland engine but was a pain in the mountains, or small hills!

Argh , the mighty 8-71 . I had one in the 70's in a 4070 doin overnight work , loved it and the jake rattling the shop windows early hours of the morning .

Learned to drive in a 74 Astro with a 318 and a 13 underdrive. I swear My right hand was never off the shifter. Roll into a truck stop and tell them to fill the oil and check the fuel!
