Car Crazy 81 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 This is my first early Pro Stock build i'd been wanting to build Grumpy's car for quite some time. Im using a AMT 70 Camaro Z-28 kit and using some pieces from the AMT 70 Baldwin/Motion Camaro kit as well. Heres some inspiration for this build.
nhra1625 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 If you need an intake just like that I have a few that I am willing to part with.
Biffo Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Cool ! i been looking at starting one like this, or the 74 version ~(or the 74 r&m stocker) whatching with interest,,
gtx6970 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Ok, I'm in. I have this same build to do,,,,,, someday .
Mooneyzs Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 This is going to be a totally cool build. Looking good so far. I will be following along.
freakshow12 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I did the 69 car for a fellow a few yrs back and have all parts to do the 70. resin scoop and some other bits. I will be doing it someday after a zillion other things just like the rest of you lol
sstacey47 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Very nice build,i have the scoop and intake in resin if anybody needs them.Sean
Car Crazy 81 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Its been awhile since i'd worked on this build. I'd primed the body with Dupli-Color Sandable White Primer.
Car Crazy 81 Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 I'd made a aluminum panel from a coke can where the gauges once were and i even made a panel for the firewall. I hope this blank gauge panel is correct for 1970 specs.
oldnslow Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Look at the pics of the interior, cars had full dash set up.
Car Crazy 81 Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 More progress done on Grumpys Toy. The suspension is all assembled i'd added some leaf spring blocks in order to clear the rear slicks which came from a Revell 79 Camaro Z28 kit. The fun part is finding a set of tires for the front thats 1970 correct might help lift the front end a little. Any suggestions on this build would be appreciative i dont know much about these old Pro Stockers its been a blast so far.
Car Crazy 81 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I'd checked the stance of the Camaro i'd noticed it sat too high so i had to trim the lift blocks some now it sits level with a slight rake.
AZ Boy Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Rick, maybe it's just the darkness of your photos, but the rear slicks look to be too tall and too far apart from each other compared to the pics of the real car. Could you possibly check your parts box for some lower profile slicks and maybe find a way to tuck those tires a little closer together? I think you're off to a great start on this, and hopefully these observations will help.
carbman Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 hi rick check my photos of my original amt grumpy Camaro I just posted.
mini trucker Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 The fuel tanks on Grumpys cars were painted white in an effort to reflect track heat and keep the fuel cool. Build looks good, keep it up
tmartin03 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Eh what happened to this build? Would have liked to have seen how it turned out!?
booboo60 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 love the 70 grump camaro! also like the 70 California Flash Camaro too..
