ajwheels Posted March 15, 2013 Author Posted March 15, 2013 Cooling fan and fan housing........ Fan and housing set upon the motor................. This is all temporary, as these parts will be installed after the engine goes into the frame.............at least that's the plan................
ajwheels Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Here are a few images with the fan shroud, fan pulley and engine case vent cover thing.................
ajwheels Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Trial fit of the distributor, intake manifolds and throttle bodies............ Further detail pieces will probably wait until I get closer to putting this into the frame.................
ajwheels Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Just about time to bring the pieces together and figure out the remaining details.............
monkeyclaw Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I don't see any mention of scale....what scale are you working in? And could I get the same engine printed in 1/12 scale??? I would really like to use the non turbo engine for a monte carlo rallye car in 1/12 scale...............feel free to PM me with any details..............matt
ajwheels Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Matt.......the scale here is 1/16...........a bit small for some of this detail, but workable if patient........... PM sent.......... Tony
ajwheels Posted March 21, 2013 Author Posted March 21, 2013 Now this is the fun part for me...........here are images of most of the rear end put together............
Custom Hearse Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 This is truly awesome! The details are sharp, and the look is wicked cool! I will definitely be checking in on this build!!!!!!
ajwheels Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Here are the rear brake pieces installed....................even the brake pads..............
Pro Wrench Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I wish I knew more about 3D printing. The amount of detail in this is unbelievable. This is a very cool build.
ajwheels Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 Thanks for the comments............Derick, hope that hand gets better, that hurts me just thinking about it...................and Curt, there is a lot of info out there about 3D printing........it's getting more accessible every day.........it does open up a whole lot of possibilities.................pretty much endless possibilities, really............... Tony
ajwheels Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Here are a few images of the engine in the frame..............
ajwheels Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 The Porsche motor, having a dry-sump oiling system, will need an oil tank.................this one will fit nicely under the seat area..................
Foxer Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 This looks amazing with the engine in place! Just a Porsche engine with a seat! That yellow color just looks right!
ajwheels Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 A few images with the fan, fan housing and shroud re-installed on the engine...............
ajwheels Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Austin...........the tank will be a fat, early-style Harley Davidson type...........twin filler caps with an instrument pod on top.............at least that is the plan so far.............there is an image that shows it back on post 36 of this thread.....................
GrandpaMcGurk Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks for the comments............Derick, hope that hand gets better, that hurts me just thinking about it...................and Curt, there is a lot of info out there about 3D printing........it's getting more accessible every day.........it does open up a whole lot of possibilities.................pretty much endless possibilities, really............... Tony 3-D printing is not only more accessible but the technology just keeps getting better & better.....it's hard to believe that Tony's trike is only 1/16th scale!
ajwheels Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Thanks, Ira, I appreciate the good word............. And Don's comment about this being 1/16 scale, well, it's a bit small for my drifting eye-sight and fat fingers, however, I took a shot at flaring some aluminum tubing for the ram tubes on the throttle bodies............then installed the intakes on the engine.........
