mnwildpunk Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Either I'm not using the search function right or something because I can never find what I'm looking for. I am working on the AMT 71 duster. I'm having trouble placing the air cleaner decal it doesn't want to lay down so I went to the hobby shop and became puzzled. What should I use decal solvent or decal set and what is the difference? Another question I have is I made a wash to add depth to my grille I was wondering will it work the same on painted surfaces or will it not rub off like it does on plated surfaces?
Foxer Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 use Micro Sol Setting Solution before placing decals. It helps adhesion of the decal and helps it to settle down over detail. If the decal needs more to settle over detail I use Mircoscale Micro Set. Washes will work on paint or chrome but the type of paint in the wash will determine how well. I usually use an acrylic flat black so I can go over it with a damp (water) Qtip to get anything on the high places off.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 As far as the search function goes, it works much better to do a google search than it does to use the MCM forum search function. I googled "decal solvent model cars" and one of the first hits was this... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41118
mnwildpunk Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 wow just doing that little bit makes the model look amazing it add a lot depth to the outlines of doors and panel lines.
