Bought this kit as a donor for a corvette (headlights) but decided to build it instead. My wife came up with the idea of making it look like a pimp car, so apart from what you can see in these photos, the interior will be flocked (hopefully shagged) throughout. I've also opened the trunk and doors on this kit using Detail Master metal hinges.

Pimp,Isnt Buick for old people? :D Joke aside,these cars was about the most powerful muscle cars you could buy in 1970.

If i remember right a '70 454 chevelle was the fastest muscle car in 1970

Fastest is debatable. The 70 Chevelle LS6 454 had the highest advertised horsepower at 450. The 70 Buick GS had the highest advertised torque at 510.

The Buick is looking good. Is it going to be lowered with protouring wheels or traditional lowrider wire wheels?

Thanks Raoul. I was going to lower it, but it actually sits quite low already. I don't have a lot of spare parts at the moment - only what I've salvaged from other kits.

Buying spares in Australia is stupidly expensive, and shipping small parts from most overseas countries costs far too much in shipping. Next time i visit the US I think I'll have to fill a suitcase with parts!

Finally got this thing finished. It was driving me crazy. I'll do a post in Under Glass later today once the final photos are done, but wanted to show some of the progressive images. Apologies for the massive images, I keep forgetting to crop them.

I can dig it!! B) Nice to see you building it in an original style. It's only plastic; have FUN with it!! That's what the hobby is about for me!! :P

I was in the Gran Sport Club Of America for awhile. In one of their publications there was an article that said that the Buick 455 block contained more nickel in the metal and somehow caused it to be much lighter and wear better. Buicks 455 engine block was actually the lightest in weight compared to the Olds and Pontiac engine blocks. I don't recall by how much though.
