Eshaver Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Here is a model that both Harry and Skip asked me to post . It's Hubley's 1958-9 Mercedes Benz 300. I saw it at the Richmond Virginia Old Dominion Open back in 2012. Looking at the scratched unpainted red plastic , I saw that re building this one wouldn't present too much problem. The interior was painted in a Gold . The big issue was it's missing windshield header . I was pretty sure that a raid on the A M T Mercedes kit would net a few needed items too. There are two rather Stock wheel sets in these kits . I chose to use the steel wheel and cap assembly . The windshield header and a subsequent windshield were constructed from Evergreen Styrene strip and acetate .. Because this model was a "Curbside " , I decided to leave it as it was .
sjordan2 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) It's pretty amazing when you look at it to realize this kit was contemporary with the actual car. The body is pretty accurate, and I don't remember it having US headlights (or is the European glass missing?). I built this when I was a kid, and I'd like to get my hands on one to give it another shot. Edited March 24, 2013 by sjordan2
peter31a Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 That is a sharp little Mercedes. I'm glad the fellows talk you into sharing it with us.
Harry P. Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Here is a model that both Harry and Skip asked me to post. Just for the record... I never made any such comment. Not sure where Ed got that idea from.
