Here is a model that both Harry and Skip asked me to post . It's Hubley's 1958-9 Mercedes Benz 300. I saw it at the Richmond Virginia Old Dominion Open back in 2012. Looking at the scratched unpainted red plastic , I saw that re building this one wouldn't present too much problem. The interior was painted in a Gold .

The big issue was it's missing windshield header . I was pretty sure that a raid on the A M T Mercedes kit would net a few needed items too. There are two rather Stock wheel sets in these kits . I chose to use the steel wheel and cap assembly . The windshield header and a subsequent windshield were constructed from Evergreen Styrene strip and acetate ..

Because this model was a "Curbside " , I decided to leave it as it was .

It's pretty amazing when you look at it to realize this kit was contemporary with the actual car. The body is pretty accurate, and I don't remember it having US headlights (or is the European glass missing?). I built this when I was a kid, and I'd like to get my hands on one to give it another shot.

Just for the record... I never made any such comment. Not sure where Ed got that idea from.
