steve7119 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Does anyone know of a powerstroke diesel engine in 1/24 or 1/25th scale? Either in a kit or from the aftermarket? I am trying to plan a project like what Stacey David is doing on the GEARZ show with an older cab-over truck. I have a couple of the ford and dodge kits for a starting point but need to update the engine to a more modern powerplant. Or does anyone have another suggestion for updated diesel power for either of these trucks?
mikemodeler Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 someone is working on a Cummins resin engine but to date there is not a Powerstroke diesel engine of any kind available in resin or kit form.
steve7119 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I think I will just have to make something up then. Wonder if the unidentified V-8 Diesel in the ford Dump Truck would work?
Chris guthro Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I think the ford 460 in the revell f250 kits would be a good spot to start, mod the valve covers and add a turbo set up with an air to air intercooler and should easily look the part! The e40d transmission should even be the same as the powerstrokes
Chris guthro Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 The diesel in the plow truck is what looks to be a 3208 cat!
steve7119 Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 I have the F-250 kit which I pirated other parts out of so I can use the engine. I looked at it and saw it was gas, not diesel. There has to be enough information out there I can convert it. the plow truck engine looks huge. Thanks for your help Mike and Chris!
hooknladderno1 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Steve, I have a 1:1 2003 F-250 with a 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel engine. If you need any reference photos, let me know. David
Chris guthro Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Definatley use the 460 as a base! Really close looking short lock to the 90s powerstroke!
