Fabrux Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Found this listing on eBay for a "show truck": clicky Apparently this seller and I have a different definition of show truck. To me, a show truck would have a fuel door and an interior that doesn't look so cobbled together! They claim to have spent $40k on the restoration; I'm having a hard time seeing it.
Fabrux Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 There are very few people that can spell tonneau, apparently.
clavender17 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 wow !!! lol I CANT see 40k in it !!!!! for 40K it better stand on the back roll pan lol
cappy625 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 i would'nt call it a show truck or spend 18,500 on it etheir.but i do like it! always liked that body style chevy truck.
Fabrux Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Don't get me wrong, I like the truck. But it needs a fuel door right off the bat, a custom-built instrument cluster to get rid of all those awful tack on gauges everywhere, and a tall Lokar automatic shifter to eliminate that monstrosity it currently has. That would be a good start. Next I'd take off the visor and razorback...

Guy should get a fuel door and spend $500 on a photo shoot and he'd be able to ask more for it without turning people off! Why is every big block a 427 and why is every 427 from a '68 Corvette? I bet this thing was started 20 years ago when loud graphics, racerbacks, and B&M shifters were all the rage. The only thing it's missing is 4 shocks per corner with bright pink boots. Wonder why it has the square fuel door box on it instead of the round exposed filler cap like it should? Would look a whole lot more convincing as a "show truck" with shiny chrome cap there instead of a hole where a door should be.
Fabrux Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 My guess is the box is from a 77+ truck. And with that stupid shifter it was probably originally a four speed truck as well.
tooltas Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 all i would do is paint it all black pearl and lift it up two more inchs
Chad Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 How about the center caps being installed backwards??? The ones with holes should be on the front for the locking hubs lol. Chad
mistermodel Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 How about the center caps being installed backwards??? The ones with holes should be on the front for the locking hubs lol. Chad whats in the center of the front hub cap,a locker dial maybe? what in the center of the rear hub cap,a emblem maybe? look again
Chuck Most Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 40 grand, huh? Wonder how much he'd have saved if he'd opted not to go with that godawful paint scheme.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 The "tonic cover" alone has to be worth a few grand! Man, that thing has "bad taste" written all over it. Amazing how much ugly 40K will buy...
pharoah Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 What, you don't like 80's paint schemes? I always thought an investment was something you made money on,not lose it.
