Rob Hosking Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Wondering if anyone may have a magic trick to cure the red/yellow bleed through on color molded bodys and parts? Like especially around panel lines, brutal. I was contemplating using the tamiya brush on primer on the panel lines, wet sanding, then applying tamiya white primer in the spray can?
Ramfins59 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I would suggest using a good primer/sealer on the bodies before repainting them. I've had good luck with Duplicolor primer/sealer.
Rob Hosking Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Ok, thanks. I have not really painted plastic with anything other than Tamiya primer first, the primer sealer can go right on or should i prep the body with something first?
roadhawg Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Paint it flat black first, then go from there with primer/paint.

High octane Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I just finished a car molded in a green plastic. I sprayed the body silver, then primer, then color coats and clear. Works good.
Edsel-Dan Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Silver is the trick I used on a Jo-Han Ambulance molded in red to get White on the Roof and Not Pink!!
rustbucket82 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 you can always seal the body with future floor polish before you prime it.
Craig Irwin Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 A coat of spray can "self etching" primer (in that muddy green color) followed by regular primer seems to work best for me.
J Smith Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 If you know how to use an airbrush I would use anautomotive primer. I use all DuPont paints I have never had a problemwith it.
Yahshu Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I use rattlecan automotive primer, no problems so far.
