moparmagiclives Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 What do you guys do with these big 1/12 and 1/8 scale models when you've completed them? A really big shelf somewhere?
JunkPile Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I heard something about using a fish tank for a large scale display case. Removal of fish and water is optional.
cobraman Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I put my 1/12 GT 500 under a fish tank. It's a little tall but works good. Petco ( I work there) was having one of their dollar a gallon sales so I got a 10 gallon for 10 bucks plus my 20 % discount.
pharoah Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 This is mine. it's built in the wall of the dining room. L=http://s868.photobucket.com/user/pharouh/media/models/display_zpsbfd486be.jpg.html]
DavidChampagne Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) We found a cheap china hutch at a big furniture store many years ago.I added some shelves and put mu 1/8, 1/12 and 1/16 models in there. If I ever build the models in my closet I will need another. My wife found the smaller ones that are each side somewhere on the internet. They hold 16 1/24 models each and rotate.%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g473/davidchampagne/MISC/MVC-012F.jpg Edited April 12, 2013 by DavidChampagne
monkeyclaw Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I use display cases, and old retail display cases for models that are gonna hang around. Models that "travel" usually just stay in tubs down in the shop for the entire show season....I have been lucky though, in the past few years most of the big builds have been commissioned; so I don't have to worry about making room for them...if they fit in the truck of the car for delivery; that works................Matt
Kenny B Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 This is mine. Still have lots of room to add more glass shelves. Kenny B
rmvw guy Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I GOT REALLY EXCITED! Just now when I saw the Big T above by Pharoah. I've been holding off building this one for a while looking for a way to display it when finished. I love looking at these big scale models. I had the Big T as a kid displayed on top of my dresser. Now I don't even have a dresser!
dpride Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I will make cabinets for them soon but now it's good to see them everyday while I work. Only problem is.... the cabinets cost as much as the models......
