I got my nephew a '63 Corvette snap kit, and I thought I would clear and foil the body for him. The clear I'm using seems to be soaking into the plastic. I'm using Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel clear, and I don't think it's crazing the plastic, but it's leaving a frosted texture...... Anyone know what I should do, or maybe what is causing this?

I've found that paints that describe themselves as "acrylic enamel" are very hot and not suitable for hobby purposes. In my experience they eat plastic so I've learned simply to avoid them. You can try sanding it smooth, but that's going to take a lot of time and hard work. Good luck with it.

If you sparyed the clear over bare plastic, then its not frosted, its crazed , Duplicolor paints/primer/clear can be to hot for a lot of kit plastic, there a steps you can take if you want to use automotive paint/primer on models to prevent harming the plastic

One is to use Tamiya primer, I know a lot people us Tamiya primer then automotive paint over it, another thing you can do is use Future floor wax and apply it to the bare plastic, then sand it using 1000 grit and then primer and paint, the Future will protect the plastic from hot paint/clear/primer

I would try a dip in future...As it is self leveling, it might fill in the crazing, and gloss it up
