I got it finished yesterday. Considering what it is, and what I did to myself in the build process...I'm amazed it both A) got done before leaving for Toledo and :P Got done EVER! LOL.

I won this car at Toledo last year as a door prize. It's an R&R Vacuum Craft kit that was actually really really nice, better then some of Ray's stuff I've used. I knew I wanted to do it as a NASCAR version, but didn't know what one. Until Bernie posted that he had done decals for it...I paypaled him within a month and they were on the way to me!

But then, I didn't actually start it until this past Saturday! Nothing like waiting until the last moment, eh? It pretty much fell togther. It is entirely aftermarket or scratchbuilt EXCEPT the seat and steering wheel, and the seat was modified.

I scratchbuilt the entire interior pan, and it has a modified PPP cage.

The finish is something I've never done on a 1/24 or 1/25 model...it's Tamiya Primer that I clearcoated. I've had success doing that in 1/64 and it worked just as well on a larger scale.

Decals are, as I said, Bernie's, and it was the first time I had ever used inkjet paper. I was a little worried how that would go...but they worked better then many screenprinters do! I didn't have to use Micro-Sol once!

The one thing I didn't check for was the rear tire clearence. With the interior bucket I made, they just won't fit, and to have it sit right would have required creating an entire new interior bucket. So I decided that it would sit with a speedway rake, unfourtunatly you can see the chassis. Oh well!

Two other firsts: I remembered to scratchbuild exhuast dumps and rear window braces!

Overall, I am really happy with the way this one came out! And yes, it'll be in Toledo!

I had to take a guess at contingency placement. I was not able to locate a clear photo showing them, so I went with the blurry one I had and the best educated guess I could make!

Enjoy the photos...

A very nice job indeed on this one man, I am not a Nascar fanatic but I do love the old Nascar racers mainly because they used the actual cars from that era, I can't wait for the Cyclone to come out, I will definetly be doing that one, again, cool job on your build, like always you do great work............. :P

Those exhaust dumps must create some awesome spark trails dragging on the ground like that! ;)

Nice to see a NASCAR racer from the days when "stock car racing" still actually meant something!
