Modelmartin Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Just finished this the other day. The interesting thing is that this car puts me on the right and Jairus on the left side of things! Lacquer paint, pearl white , red, and blue. Slixx decals were used. I used my resin tires and slicks on it. Now it sits right. I only added plug wires. I am on the learning curve with newer funny cars. The next one I will detail better. I have all of the Mad cars and even the Craftsman buzzsaw car. Does anyone know if decals were ever made for the Mad "Ugly" car?
Smart-Resins Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Very nice build! I like the color combo for sure
cruzn Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Andy.. the ugly car was a quick Builder , I believe, already Painted.. I have pics of the Political Body when I was at Topeka..Need to dig them out.. Nice Build..Are You sure you want to do a fully detailed Modern day Funny?? Lots of A/N fittings and small wire for sensor wires to the Puter. Dwayne
v8horsepowercj Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Andy, This is a great looking build, superclean. It does "sit right" those resin tires look outstanding!!! Super Job. Chris
James W Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Maybe you should do a full on detailed Jimmy Carter funny car for more 'practice.' Nice job btw
Modelmartin Posted October 15, 2007 Author Posted October 15, 2007 And I'm on the Left... why? Left side of car, "Gore - Loser!" Right side of car, "Bush - Loser!" You - left, me - right. Right? Or do you approve of both sides? James, I think I will pass on the AMT Peanut One - Quarter Mile Smile. Dwayne, I have the quick builder black car but didn't know they did the "Ugly" car. I will have to look for that one.
cruzn Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Dwayne, I have the quick builder black car but didn't know they did the "Ugly" car. I will have to look for that one. Andy My Mistake I have seen the Ugly car as a diecast Not a quick Builder. I had a Brain fart when I Posted that.. Missed seeing you at the St Joe NNL... Dwayne
hemi Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Very nice looking car you have there. You did a great job on the paint and decals. Also you mentioned using Your resin tires and slicks on it I would like more information od those,Are they parts you makefor the public if so how can I get a set.TIA. and again great work.
mvadrag Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Andy, Very nice build. Really good job on the decals. I don't have the patience for getting them to settle. I thought you would have more experience with the funny car kits based on the resin kits you make. Maybe you just used the chassis to mock up those kits. I have completed only one kit out of box and used many for the chassis on other builds: altereds like fiats, tees and bantams.
Jon Cole Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 ModelMartin- If you are interested in doing the Craftsman Sawblade car, it was at my local Sears store on display back in (IIRC) 2003. I will post the link below to several pics I took. http://public.fotki.com/JCole/race_cars__trucks/page15.html Hope this helps! -Jon-
