CrazyGirl Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 maybe this should go in the diorama section , but has anyone ever used real grass seed to grow a real lawn in a diorama , if so do they have tiny grass seeds for a more scale looking real lawn , thanks
W-Machine Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Real grass would look very much out of scale. Model railroaders and many diorama builders use a grass material that is applied using static electricity, and the results are VERY realistic.
southpier Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 a lot of time, "real" materials look artificial when used in a scale format.
Eshaver Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Anne, I'm in the diorama business. I've never seen a scale grass seed . I generally use a mixture of Rail road items , finely sifted dirt, sand , and some textured papers .
Harry P. Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Even the tiniest grass seeds will grow into full-scale grass...
Roadkill2525 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Yes, but you have to get them from Japan...to be used with those tiny banzai trees.
martinfan5 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) Yes, but you have to get them from Japan...to be used with those tiny banzai trees. I wonder if HLJ sells them Edited May 12, 2013 by martinfan5
