Jantrix Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Guys check this out. This is an artist rendition of a Dart they built on the Muscle Car TV. See that wonderful stenciled HEMI on the hood? I would like to do something similar on a current build. I'm not afraid of trying some home made stencils, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas that might work. Are there any large HEMI decals I could work into a design? How would you go about achieving this look? Thanks in advance.
fatkidd Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Rob, Here's my "off the top of my head, quick response"... Create the hood decal so that you have a black box with your chosen text and make the lettering "transparent" and print on decal paper(obviously you'll want to print on transparent decal paper) Paint the hood color of the car and apply the decal over the hood. lettering is transparent and allows the color to show through. Again, just an off the top of my head idea, but that's how I would go about doing it.
Jantrix Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 The black field would be entirely decal and the lettering clear. Interesting idea. I was planning on using flats for the hood.
fatkidd Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 you could go back over the decal with some dull coat or Tamiya flat base
