MikeyBugs95 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Hey. Yes, I'm new. And I've been working on a Mobius Models 1953 Hudson Hornet for the past few months. I'm pretty much almost finished with it, all I need to do is some trim touch ups, order a new piece of suspension, and assemble the rest. Here's where it's been and where it is so far: Well... When I started out (taking pictures that is) I had, basically, the entire body masked. And the engine was yellow instead of what looked like it should have been bronze or another similar color: The interior was OK. Had the customary blue and such (no, the white areas are NOT white paint, thats bare plastic): Now all of the above I've redone (mostly) and this is what I have so far: Of course, the engine has been completed with only minor incident... But I dont have a picture of it yet. Everythings been painted so far. I also painted the car interior (roof and supports) that lighter blue color. I had actually mixed it myself and I'm currently trying to get it reproduced so I can use it again. So far this is mostly what I have done. I have more finished but I don't have pictures or I think that the post would get too long if I did post enough pictures... So what does everyone think? Yes I'm working this model. Eric N. Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Hey Mike, What paint are you using?-brand,spray or brush? Eric Edited May 16, 2013 by Eric N.
MikeyBugs95 Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 For all my enamels I'm using Testors and Testors' Model Master. I'm brush painting but I do have an airbrush but I haven't used it yet because I have no place to use it. I'm currently in the process of designing my own paint booth.

I use a box with a window and a fan for ventilation. Or, when the weather is nice, take the box outside and paint in the box outdoors. All the venting you need. Charlie Larkin

Ok,Try MM Acrilic-The water based jar paint. It levels out good-Flat black is my fav. Eric
MikeyBugs95 Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) I tend to not use acyrlics. I just don't find them to my liking for some reason. I have some acyrlics, but those are the Tamiya which I bought to paint my USS New Jersey. But I'll have to check them out. Some of my enamels are bubbling on me. Like on my hood for my '70 Challenger. I had ordered a replacement because the one I got with the kit was warped. When the replacement came in, and when I painted it, my gloss black was bubbling everywhere for some reason. So I'll check out those acyrlics. See if they work better for me. Eric N. Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Ok,Your bubbling might be skin oils on the plastic. If you find the paint is to thick you can cut it with the MM Acrilic thinner. Also make sure the brush is not contaminated with something.Good luck! Eric
MikeyBugs95 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Hm... Good point. I keep my brushes in the cases before I use them.
