mole53 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I plan on building Revells 2008 Mustang as an Eleanor tribute. What I'd like to know is 1) What color was the original and is there a rattle can paint that closely matches it? 2) I can't tell from the movie what color was the interior? This is not going to be a detailed build, but I suffer from AMS so that's anybody's guess. Thanks in advance for any help.
MAGNUM4342 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Do you mean the original 1974 movie? Edited June 12, 2013 by MAGNUM4342
mnwildpunk Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 1974 was a bright orange and the second was a gray color
MAGNUM4342 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Okay, ummm...I don't know how you are seeing orange, but the original Eleanor was code 2157 yellow. Edited June 12, 2013 by MAGNUM4342
mole53 Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 Thanks for the replies. My bad, it's the 2nd movie.
J Smith Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 The name of the color is Pepper Gray. If you look on the Eleanor fourm DuPont is the best match for the color. Also the black stripes are not a plain black, it is a metallic black JSmith
VW Dave Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 If you're using rattle cans, I'd go with Tamiya light gunmetal and metallic black

Jantrix Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Okay, ummm...I don't know how you are seeing orange, but the original Eleanor was code 2157 yellow. And what a god-awful color it was.
mnwildpunk Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Lol yes sometimes it is a blessing I can't always see true colors others a curse
MAGNUM4342 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Lol yes sometimes it is a blessing I can't always see true colors others a curse Understood. I have a sister who is color blind. I would think though, with that condition you probably shouldn't be trying to tell folks what color something is right? I mean I'm not trying to be rude, although I'm probably coming across that way. But that's a bit like someone with no depth perception trying to describe distance.
mole53 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Hey guy's, I didn't mean to start no wars, thanks for all the info. This project is so far down the road, it's out of sight. Thanks again for the info.
mnwildpunk Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Oh no war at all I understand where he is coming from 100% Honestly he is right. This is something I have to remember before I jump to answer a question. Sometimes my urge to help others like I've been helped overcomes my senses

Sorry couldn't resist the joke) I wish there were more guys like him who tactfully approach issues! 99.9% of the B.S. would stop.
