What's the outside diameter of a 1500ml wine bottle?

I was thinking of making a wine rack from 4" PVC pipe. Wondering if it will fit.

I know the 750s will fit. I'm wondering about the bigger 1500ml bottles. I get one of those every once in a while.

Many are the same, but some are different. Sounds like a good subject for in-depth research.

(But I think you'll need to go closer to 5" or 6")

No time like the present for a fresh 1500 bottle!

Yeah I have a couple of them at home, but I'm in my work van and curious. I finally got some pipe for free, left over from a job.

OK, I just got home to check. A tapered St. Genevieve bottle will not fit, but a straight-sided Frontera bottle will. I think a DIY wine rack made of PVC will look cool.
