Nice work he's got going there! Keep us updated on his progress.

There's something to be said about building with your kid. Mine ran across some of my models I had built in highschool (94) up to about 3 years ago, last November. He expressed interest in wanting to build and we've been at it ever since January of this year. He's only 6 so I'm still doing most of the building.

That's really cool! Wish I had a young bloke with an interest in the hobby :-). He's picked a great car but somewhat of a "harder" kit to build, good you're there to help :-) Just a tip... The rear bumper/fascia can be a tight fit... I suggest dry fitting before it needs to be glued in place. I'm building this kit now so I know my experience. ;-)

Thanks guys for the compliments...

Ya, my boys 9 and is everything about cars and Selena Gomez. (He just loves that girl) Anyway, he has recently started "customizing" some of his hot wheels with Sharpies (coloring in the head/tail lights etc...) which offers him more immediate results. Unfortunately, he has inherited my ADD, and the whole model building process is a bit too much at times and he goes off to play Xbox. So I too will be doing most of this build it seems...

thanks again.

And here are a few interior pics.

Here you can see the gauge lenses haven't "fully" dried yet.

I know it's not the quality of most of you guys on here, but it's a start. I hope you enjoy BTW, My son's pretty much dropped out of the project at this point... :(

OMG!!!! getting very frustrated. I get the parts painted all nice. I get the proper adhesives for the proper applications. and ALWAYS..... when it comes to assembling the windows and details etc.... I get smudges on the windows, my fingers all of a sudden start sticking to the body and leave fingerprints, and small parts like the rear view mirror and side view mirrors always seem to find a way to come unattached. It just seems that no matter what precautions I take, something always happens to mess something up.

Does anybody have any suggestions that may be helpful in eliminating such things from happening (and/or any other finishing tips that could be helpful)?

thanks... just needed to vent.

That is too bad he dropped out. Glue on windows is not that bad....simply wetsand the window out with 600 grit, 800, and then 1500 grit and then polish it out again with Meguiars PlastX. Takes a little time but will come out clear again guaranteed. Just did a window that was covered with glue along the edges and it turned out great.

For windows, don't use the same model glue you've used for everything else. That's just asking for trouble. Use a white glue which will wipe off with a wet Q-Tip even after it dries. Or... I bought some crafters 2 sided tape at Michaels that I've been using to keep glass in place. No chance of getting glue on anything at all.

For small parts like mirrors, I usually fix them to the model with a small length of straight pin. Drill a small hole in the body where the mirror will go. Drill a hole in the mirror, insert the straight pin. Cut it to the length you will need once it's dry. Then you can just pin the mirror to the body, and put a dab of glue on the inside of the body so no glue would be visible from outside.

Garry, the best way to keep your fingers ffrom sticking to the body is put strips of Tamiya masking tape on the sides and roof where you touch the body. the heat from your fingers causes it to stick. l use 18 mm. sorry about the glue on the window. l use tube glue for everything. There is a clear glue for windows or you can use elmers glue..
