mariojr Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 This is probably a dumb question but here goes. Do you guys paint the bolt heads that you can see on the model car or do you guys just leave them any color
slusher Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 l have painted them. l don't do it all the time. Depends on the build...
Tom Geiger Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 It depends on how it is on the real vehicle. For instance, I'll always dab lug nuts with color, but if bolts were painted along with an assembly, I'll leave them the same color as that assembly. On occasion when weathering a chassis, I'll dab a little rust on a random one or two.
Blown03SVT Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Like Tom metioned, it depends on the subject matter. Most of the stuff I build would be show cars, or over restored classics in 1:1, so I dab them with a little aluminum, or steel paint on a toothpick, maybe even sometimes gold to represent zinc plated fasteners.

Your post reminded me of an old built up I had once... the builder had carefully and perfectly painted all the ejector pin marks on the chassis silver!
Blown03SVT Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Oh, now I know better than that. With all the reference material available via the web there are no excuses
