Silver Foxx Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 My Mark Martin Jolly Rancher Buick , built from Monogram kit , Tamiya paint , aftermarket decals , chrome on rims toned down a bit , lowered a bit to get better stance - hope you like.
PappyD340 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Looks great, you nailed it IMO, good job Bruce!
Old Coyote Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Absolutely stunning build Bruce ............... simply beautiful ............ great job sir, I love your builds
Cartoon Network guy Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Great build I am working on that in diecast 1/18
bbowser Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 What a nice clean job! Great work Bruce. If you don't mind me asking, how do you keep the decals from yellowing on a pristine white car like this? Everyone I've done in the past has yellowed, some badly. The ones I used a lot of setting solution on are the worst.

Thanks for the nice comments - I just used Tamiya TS 26 (pure white ) , good quality decals ( Powerslide or JWTBM ) can't remember which one , did not use any setting solution on these and no clear coat . This was built some time ago and still looks the same as when built . Tamiya is an acrylic lacquer so it may be different if you are using enamel paint. Hope this helps you a bit.
mikemopar70 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Nice Buick! Clean build, i love Nascar of those years!! Congratulations...
Truck parts Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Great build and thank's for the tip on what white you used.
DerthDeboblo Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Resurrecting a dead post, but fantastic looking Buick! Question though, what did you do in order to lower it? Might sound like a noob question, but you nailed the stance!
Silver Foxx Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 I just lower them the easiest way I can , at the back I cut the coil springs down , and at the front I cut the stub axles off and smooth the area flat and glue on a small flat circle of plasticard , then when you glue on the front wheels on you can adjust them to what ever height you want as the glue sets . This may not be a perfect way of doing it , but it may help.
GoatGuy Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Great job Bruce. Thanks for the paint and decal info. How did you tone down the chrome rims ? A dark wash ?
Silver Foxx Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 The rims and other chrome parts on this were dechromed and redone with Alclad Chrome , it is easy to put too much Alclad on , I just give it a light coat over the black basecoat and it gives this look . Hope this helps .
