added a couple box shots for reference

found the right silver tone finally!

decals went on well

just need to paint center hoodscoop black now and cement it on,

need to assemble my motor and chassis yet, starting on intereior

got some custom decals on the e-bay with a "zebra" print pattern to place in the center of the "recaro" seats

will look pretty sweet when done

will wire engine and add clutch cable(even tho I think most of the 79-81 mustangs all had the smaller 4.2 v8 and aod's)

The seat decals look great and so does the paint. I have one question though. Why did you mount the mirrors on the doors instead of the window frame? It messed up the flow of the decal. I'm not sure how easy it would be to fix at this point.

I see what your saying I clicked on the picture and it gets bigger to full size......

I see the slight bend in the decal and like you say side mirror looks like it sits low

I honestly think its a slight flaw to these old mustang kits..... I think the mirrors are slightly too big for where they are supposed to go.......

the car on the box is a photo of the actual vehicle but it is what it is

i'm having fun building it I don't see a whole lot of them except the ones people "professionally built" or complete in the box kits for ridiculous on flea bay

Just a bit of pace car trivia for you. The box art is one of 3 cars that were on hand at race. The only 3 to get t tops. All the replicas were sunroof or solid roof. The actual pace car on race day also had a roush built 358 cubic inch windsor

that is great trivia freakshow i'm building a second it will be proper hardtop!

this current one happens to be t top setup due to the fact that I got it off e-bay for the right price cheap these mpc kits usually are ridiculous expensive someone had started the bodywork and t panel removel (poor job of It as well) that's why I just went with it

That's looking alright, good work! I think your observation about the side mirror is correct, they are quite tall in scale, and sit unusually low compared to the side window bottom trim line

Where did you get the seat decals?

its from a guy on e - bay I got them from, i won them uncontested, later on i could not find them again so i looked him up in my history and asked if i could buy another set, just had to paypal him the $ and he sent another set via usps in an envelope between thin cardboard, my wife made me close my paypal so i can no longer get things on e-bay, but I have his envelope and address so i'm about to write the guy and ask him to e -mail me and see if i can send him a money order for another set i'm not sure I have enough material to make another full interior, if i get a response from him via e-mail i will ask if its ok to give out his e-mail in regards to forum members that would like these decals contacting him if they want a set, its very convincing i think looks very real ! i will let everyone know if I get permission to give out mailing address/ e-mail info. want to say it was around 7-8 $ a set its on waterslide decal paper, i actually cut out what i needed and elmer glued into place!

heres the interior updates.....

still need to work with the "mesh" for the halo top seats.....

the mesh i got works ok, but it stretches and can get out of place very hard to work with

may try regular screen material (for porches or screen doors) or i may try as well some leftover material my wife used to make a tutu for my daughter??? ..... used elmers wite glue on the backside of headrest to tack the mesh into place hopefully touchup painting will make gluethats dried not noticable......
