50 olds final fit problems

anyone have problems fitting body to frameOn my first build had no problem but now it wont fit something is holding it up seems to be in the dash rad area but cant see where the hold up is making it fit down on it

I found out on mine,the dash to windshield and firewall to the inside of the cowl had fit issues.Glad I found this out before painting anything.

I read about something called "tolerance stack" in model building. It's when parts that have small plus deviations in sizes are assembled into a unit that will not fit. This drove me nuts with some of my first builds and I used to take a file to stuff to make these final fit adjustments that the OP talks about here. It's important to clean each part carefully and test fit units as you go and not assemble things until the fit is right.

Tom, I had to file down the top of the firewall on mine. It's been a while now so I don't remember exactly what I ended up having to do, but I have no doubt that you'll see it if you focus your peepers on that area.

thanks thought it would be the interior tub on my first build I used a custom resin interior and had no problems Back to the bench!Thanks

Absolutely excellent advice. Tolerance-stackup happens in the full-scale world too, on just about every manufactured product. It is a large part of the reason some real cars were referred to as "lemons", when all of the possible stackups came together on one vehicle to create a monster.
