I picked this kit up yesterday at a flea market and can't seem to find alot of info online about it.I was wondering if anyone here might be able to give me some info on it(price,rarity,ect...).It is still factory sealed, but if it isn't very rare I kinda want to build this one just like the box art version.

Did you buy it to build ,collect or sell? The value guide say a mint kit is worth 30 bucks. That is just an average plus or minus price . Your kit box is crushing under the wrap. If you like the box art ( it is cool ) than unwrap and straighten the box.I have been told it will not stop shrinking. I do not know if that is true, but it is shrink wrap.

It's a modified reissue of Revell's original '57 Chevy kit from the early 60s.

The original issue, or the 1968 reissue, might be worth something, but I'd classify this one as a "builder". The original issue featured a yellow '57 in a racing scene.

The original kit was one of the first, if not *the* first, to offer opening doors and trunk lid, which was quite something nearly 50 years ago.

Be ready for some issues with these opening features....

Enjoy!

It can build into a nice model with some time and patience but like has already been said, the hinges are fiddly. I remember having issues when I built mine getting the doors to stay shut and getting the trunk to line up properly. But with some work and maybe a set of small rare earth magnets to hold the doors shut, it looks great when finished. BTW, there are also 55 and 56 chevy kits from the same time period that also have opening everything if you have fun building this one and are up for a challenge afterward.

Honestly, I wouldn't be building it. Those old Revell kits were over ambitious tooling for the 1968 or so era they were released. As others have said, there are fit issues with the opening panels, and it's not a pleasant experience. If you want to build a '57 Chevy there are much better kits, including the newer Revell 2 door sedans.

I'd take the kit you have, advertise it on eBay as "Low Rider" and someone will buy it just for that!

I have Built SEVERAL of those Revell Full Feature Tri-5 Chevy's and NEVER had any Problems!!

Including TWO of this Pink Lowrider.

Be advised that ONLY the rims/tires shown on the box art are included!

NO Stock tires or hubcaps!!

I am restoring an Original of the 57, and have a 56 Nomad I bashed using the Revell kits!!!!

Then of course, Monogram comes out with an actual kit of the 56 Nomad!!!!!

It might help to tape the doors & trunk lid to the body when assembling the hinges to them.

That will help with keeping everything lined up!!

I remember building two of that version when it first came out (don't ask me why) and I think that this is the first time I've seen one since. Have fun building it.

It's a modified reissue. That was released in 1975 as shown on the box labeling, If you like a challenge, then this is certainly one you dont want to miss. true there are better, more modern kits out there, but this one is a definite Oldie but a Goodie. you are most likely to encounter many sink marks, and some extra plastic flash, along with those ill fitting doors. probably nothing you cant handle I am sure.

As you can see from my pic(and Avatar)they are not that bad!Just take your time and adjust the fit.I remember making that Witch's Passion lowrider in '76 and it did not give me undue problems that I can recall!
