Ken McGuire Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I would like to add ribbed valve covers to a Trans Am Firebird 400 c.i. engine in 1/24 scale and wondering if Chevy (small block / big block) aftermarket parts will work? There seems to be many more choices for Chevy parts than for Pontiac so thought that might be the way to go. The valve covers I need do not show a manufacturer (e.g., M/T) so any of the nice aftermarket pieces would look good.
ScaleDale Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Competition Resins has a bunch of nice valve covers. I like their Late Model Pro Stock set. They are like the ones on BB Chevy motors and are blank. They have a link over in the resin and aftermarket forum. Dale
kylexgore Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Are these what you're looking for Ken? They are for the 421, but they should work for the 400 also. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-Finned-Pontiac-SD-421-Valve-Covers1-25-Scale-/110985920909?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item19d746c18d
my80malibu Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) You might try looking at a newer released 68 firebird kit. Revell did two versions stock/drag, that kit might have what you need. Edited September 6, 2013 by my80malibu
Casey Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 For a 1/24 scale model I would suggest the valve covers from the Monogram Little Deuce:
berr13 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 The Revell Pontiac engine parts pack has what look like ribbed valve covers, and it's readily available on eBay.
High octane Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Berr13 is right as there is a nice set of ribbed chromed valve covers in the Revell Parts Paks Pontiac 421 c.i. V-8 Engine kit.
Ken McGuire Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Thanks guys, I'll try the 421ci parts pack.
