Jordan 191 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I am building the AMT 1925 Ford Model T "2 complete kits in one box". I am building the custom coupe version, pretty much straight out of the box. I'm using the metal axles for strength purposes, and I don't plan to wire the engine. Here are some early shots:
cobraman Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Is that the kit body ?I built this kit twice and the body is chopped. Different kit ?
Jordan 191 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 It's this one: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXARMB&P=FR One of my local hobby shops is clearing them out for $10 each.
PappyD340 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Very NICE job there Adam, I like your color choice!!
ToyLvr Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Ditto on the color choice....Looking' Good! Save the Pacific Blue for future use - it's real close to exact the right shade for some of the Ford flatheads.
Jordan 191 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Good tip! Sometimes I toss old rattle cans when they are close to empty, but yes I should save this for that purpose. I have many more Fords in my building plans for this year too.
ToyLvr Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Adam: Check out this website: http://creativeclassiccars.com/flatheads.html Even though Boyd called your paint "Pacific Blue", to my eyes it has sort of a green tint to it....
Jordan 191 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 It definitely has green in it. I'm building a different model with Testors light blue right now, and the two colors look weird next to each other.
Jordan 191 Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 Made some more progress. It's always fun to see what the parts will look like together. I painted the door handle and hinges. The body paint ended up clumpy, but I will probably leave it. Wheels on. Getting closer...
TFchronos Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 (edited) This will look very nice when its done, great work so far. Edited September 13, 2013 by TFchronos
Jordan 191 Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Still need to attach the headers, and maybe put a decal or two on the glass.
crazyrichard Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 awsome kit , would love to get my hands on that .. love the build very clean and colors are cool not ment offensive but the metal axle / rod in front .. hmm not the best choise (?) would be way nicer if it looked a bit more realistic , what i mean is the rod looks toy like , again not ment badly
Jordan 191 Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I know what you are saying about the metal rod. The weird thing is that it actually shows up in the box art. I thought about leaving it out but I worried about overall rigidity, and I would have had to fill the holes in the hubs (not a big deal, I know). If I built this kit again, I would leave it out.
Jordan 191 Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I suppose I could paint it with the same flat aluminum as the rest of the suspension to make it less apparent.
