edward smith Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Is Tamiya White Pearl paint a good option? How well does it look? Should I use white primer, than white paint and ultimately white pearl? Can I shoot it straight on white plastic?
MAGNUM4342 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Use a white primer, then the pearl. You can base it with a gloss coat of white paint, but it would be a waste of time and add thickness to the paint job you don't need.
Guest Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Believe it or not, Testors One Coat White Lightning is one of the best looking pearl whites I've seen and used. I haven't used the Tamiya pearl white. If it's like the rest of their paints, you'll have no problems. Definitely spray it over white primer and not over bare plastic. Ace-Garageguy Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Thanks for the tip on the Testors product, Roger. I'm on the way to get a can to try. Beautiful Buick too, by the way !!
Eshaver Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 The Testor's One coat lacquers aren't very opaque . Pay attention to any primer that you shoot as it will affect the overall finish color .
weasel Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I've been happy with the Pactra RC paints...their white pearl is a true pearl, nicely opaque, 1 or 2 coats over white or grey primer and of course clearcoat gives an excellent pearl finish ... my 2 pennies...
