1972coronet Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I bought an MPC 1984 Corvette (the gold 1/25th scale annual) recently ; a kit I've wanted for years . When these MPC Annuals were new (c.1983-c.1988) , they were "stuck" with totally wrong tyres : BF Goodrich Radial T/A's !! Even at the time , the presence of these "wrong" tyres was irritating to me (and don't get me wrong here , I truly like BFG's ... just not in-place of factory-correct Gatorbacks !) . On to my inquiry ; does anyone off the correct VR50's ( 255-50 16" ? ) for these 1984 Corvettes ? I realise that MPC "saw the light" in 1988 / 1989 and added some sweet Gatorbacks to their annuals , but those are tough to find without dedicating myself to an entire kit , only to pirate its tyres . Does Chief Joseph make tyres that'll fit these kits ? If not , where can I find some , say , BBS wheels with corrosponding tyres ? Thanks P.S. - If The Chief is perusing this thread , please contact me either by replying to this post , or via my P.M. on this forum
mikemodeler Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 John, I don't think he does, but I will check my spares box and see if I have some of these and if I do, I will let you know. There might be a set of aftermarket wheels like you mentioned, have you checked Hobbylink Japan?
Chief Joseph Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 John, the original gatorbacks from the 80's Monogram kits are undersized for 1/24 scale, but would look just right at 1/25 scale.
1972coronet Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Thank you both for your replies . Mike , that would be nice if you had a spare set . Chief , I did receive (and replied to) your PM . Thank you
