mariojr Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Hi guys. I'm building a 64 impala cuz I've always loved this car n I had one. My plan is to build it as stock as I can. hopefully I can finish this one.this is where I'm at so far so please critique n give me your opinions please. Thanks in advance.
my80malibu Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I agree Good start, Next time paint the Distributor cap Black, Tan, light blue, or Red.Pull the spark plug wires down closer to the cap, they usually drape down near the cap, on real cars form the heat under the hood. Then use the wire looms to route the wires away from the Exhaust manifolds, so they wont touch, On most GM cars they are at the rear and attach to the plugs from underneath of the manifold. Then at the Electronics store they have small Diodes, These look like an Inline fuel filter when painted silver, slip some of the leftover boot material from the wires on each end, and it looks like short rubber fuel line.If the carburetor is chromed strip it and Paint it a greenish gold color, my favorite is Testors "Jet Exhaust" that color appears close to the colors when they are factory rebuilt.Hope that helps
mariojr Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks guys...n yes that did help.I use to have one of these things n now I can hardly remember how the engine was. I use to work on it almost every weekend. If I remember correctly there was a plate by the exhaust manifold so the wires won't touch...but I could be wrong...it all comes back to me jus a lil to late after its glued n painted
hgbben Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Looks great so far.....i'm currently working on this same kit, in the rotation of wip's
