pepe Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I'm trying to get some gear together to try detailing up a model.Today I got some different gauge wire.I have gauges 20 thru 30 I'm thinking 20 gauge for brake & fuel lines and the 30 for ignition wires. .This is for 1/24 or 1/25 cars.Is this sufficent? I'm not sure about radiator and heater hoses. Are there any other items I should purchase as I start out? Thanks for reading
Casey Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Brake lines are usually to 3/16" (.1875"), divide by 25 and you get .0075", so you'll need 32 gauge wire. Fuel lines are larger, usually 5/16", 3/8" or 1/2" to 5/8" for higher performance applications. Ignition wires are usually 7mm-10mm, so 29-26 gauge. Radiator hoses range from 1-1/2"-2" for typical cars and small trucks, so 15 gauge at the smaller end. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge
lordairgtar Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Most AWG sizes are written in even numbers. Odd numbers are rare below awg 1/0
