Right so I have most of a Matchbox Packard kit left over from the refurb of my Packard Victoria and was thinking what to do with it -

Well I came across this photo of a Packard tow truck in the Birdwood Automobile Museum in Australia (Photo from their website) and thought that would do nicely - I know the car in the photo is a different body (looks like a c1929 640 roadster) but I think I can get away with modifing the tourer body on the kit, either cutting out the back end and inserting the towing equipment or cutting the whole body off behind the front seats and adding some sort of a pickup body and a roof made up from the tourer roof.

Is there a source for the towing equipment in 1/32 perhaps?
I also need to find the right type of wheels, anyone got a lindberg 1930 Packard in 1/32 that they have not used the wheels and tyres from please.

A very different choice. And a rather pretty...umm, truck.

Ironically, Packard did make trucks for a while, as well as cars. Supposed to be very good trucks, too.

Started work on the weaver auto crane, the floor of the rear of the truck is not fixed in place hence the crane looks a bit skew

The wrecker is looking good, seems to me there was something with solid steel wheels, a as I was typing this and it came to me. You need to find some military modeling buddys. There are military vehicles both German and American that have the solid steel wheels that you can use.

Thanks George - I will look into the Military stuff, in fact I may have something - Will need to check size of wheels as the military is 1/35 and this is 1/32 - Not much difference but need to make them look at least a little to the right scale

following George's suggestion, I found some 1/35 steel wheels off a military vehicle - They are about 2mm lower than the Packard's original wheels but i thought I would see how they looked - Any comments? Remember the car will be a bit higher once the suspension is in.
