Actually I think the Dan Gurney version of the Tally did have a Mustang style wing in the Back. So you're not off at all installing the wing.

The gurney car was a cyclone spoiler. And there was one talladega that was not presidential blue, royal maroon or white. It was built for bunkie Knudsen. It was yellow with white bucket seat interior with console shifted auto and air conditioning. I have a few articles on it and will be replicating that particular car

FYI Ray, if you are doing it stock, it came in only 3 colors, black, maroon and presidential blue, a dark metallic blue.

The very first production Talladega was Wimbleton White.

I have to search for a photo of one with a wing. Also I notice that not only is the nose piece too wide the grill/bumper is too wide to fit into the recess of the nose piece. Fun,fun, fun.

Thanks for the photos Carl. I happen to have a spoiler like that but my mind is set on doing the wing. More of a "what if" build than trying to duplicate one that was.

The ford program happened so fast because the wing cars were kicking butt that ford didn't play with special versions for street models. They built a quick aero pkg on the cheap to please NASCAR. That's why they were all the same and no options. While this was happening ford needed to build street cars to get the boss 9 legal to go in said Torino. Since mustangs way outsold muscle torinos

The mustang got the boss 429. It was a crazy time when the aero wars started

Mercury on the other hand had time to play with the special versions

you are correct, I should have said 3 colors and included that one, not black. Edited by midnightprowler

Incorrect. Both were cyclones. And black was not a talladega color

you are correct sir. My bad.

I was able to get the front end on and molded to the body and primed. Still needs a bit of finishing but it's looking pretty good. Next I need to do some modifying to get the grill/bumper to fit. It is pretty wide to fit as it should.

I think I would put the wing about 1 real inch further back. Seems a bit too far forward. JMO, not that it matters, lol.
