vintagestang Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Um, wow, I haven't been here in a long time. So now for my question. How do I get spray paint out of the can? It's not for a model, it's for my truck but I figured that this forum would be the best place to ask. I have a can of spray paint for my truck but I need it so that I can brush it on or something like that. I have tried it before and the paint dried before I could use it.

ScaleDale Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I used to think this was insanity until I saw a video made by a rep from Testors on how to do it. Dr. cranky has a good video in his trove over at the LabRatOry... Dale
Swamp Dog Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 i take a old rag or shirt and wrap the can up in it..then i take a small nail and barley puncher a hole in it...when all the air is out make a larger hole in it...then very slowley pore it into a contaner ...do this very slow, because of the reaction that the air will have with the paint..it will boil over on you if u pore it to fast...

In my opinion, this is just plain asking for trouble. Dale
ScaleDale Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) How to Decant Paint: Dr. Cranky Clinic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W3y36H-u_0 The part of the Testors video showing the actual process and how the paint reacts to the air. Note the straw epoxied to the can nozzle. I use two glass jars and alternate between them to avoid mess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2NjMD3AW2A Dale Edited December 8, 2013 by ScaleDale

Tom Geiger Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I don't think Patrick said just how much paint he needed to brush on. Is this automotive paint, like Duplicolor? And did you indeed want to empty the entire can, or did you just need a small portion to do touch up work?
