Duntov Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 HI: Does anyone have any input or reviews on the older Tamiya 911 Porsche kit? I know this is a curb-side but beyond that ---- not much --- Any first had experience and or build notes would be helpful ----- Thanks!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
drodg Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I have the kit of the 930 Turbo. I think it is a 1988. I think the one thing that has discouraged me from building it is the amount of masking that will need to be done on the black trim and bumpers. Since everything on the bumpers are molded together. I have the kit at home and I figure I may or may not ever build it. I will say it looks good especially the stance as compared to the Fujimi 911's.
Duntov Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks David: The info is helpful... I did find a complete build up article from this site ----- http://www.modelersite.com/en/1695/porsche-911-turbo-88-a-step-by-step-project-for-novices-tamiya-1-24-scale It looks like they want a couple of bucks to down load the PDF article ---- here is a photo ----from the little I can see in the PDF sample you are spot on with regard to the masking ----- but they did a good job per the photo below --- I will probably attempt this one just because I don't have one in my collection ----- (Sorry the photo is "grab" so it is a bit grainy -----) but it looks like they got some good results overall. Thanks again --- Bill
niteowl7710 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 It is an exceptionally basic kit, these 911s (there are three off the same basic tooling) were originally Snap-Tite style kits. Contents, and the instructions here - http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10042244
Dominik Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 If you are interested, here are two links to my german forum, the Revell Premium '88 911 turbo - similar to the Fujimi: >kit-review< with interesting differences between Fujimi "enthusiast" and "Curpside" in the discussion following the review >WIP '88 911 turbo< same kit
Duntov Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Thanks James, Dominik and David: This is helpful ---- Regards Bill (Duntov)
Mike Kucaba Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 WOW! one heck of a Porsche collection! Thanks also for the info on the various kits.
