downtowndeco Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 First time poster. I am building a slot car layout & needed a gas station. This is scratch built using foamcore & styrene. I'd say it's about half finished. I still need to finish the office, add lights (including a neon "OPEN" sign) & sound. Hope you like what I've got done so far.
downtowndeco Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) I tried to add more pictures but it keeps rejecting them because the files are too large. : ( Edited December 19, 2013 by downtowndeco
charlie8575 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Put your pictures on Photobucket and post them from there. Use the links and copy-and-paste them into your post. Solves all the file size problems. Charlie Larkin
crazyrichard Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 very very cool , not sure about the figure , he looks kind of real fake .. without the figure , much better
GTMust Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Great work Randy. I work mostly in 1/32 scale as well and I can really appreciate the detail and clean building results. It's not easy to get that kind of detail in this smaller scale. My hat's off to you!Can we see some pictures of your slot car layout.... even if only in progress?Tony
downtowndeco Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Thanks, again, it is a WIP. My now dismantled 1/64th Scale "Little Le Mans" My old "Little Monaco", also dismantled.
GTMust Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Very impressive! I'm struggling along with a 1/43 slot car track in my backyard shed. With Canadian winter upon us, I probably won't see it again until the Spring......!!!Tony
downtowndeco Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 I'm starting on the lobby interior. I made the soda cooler & counter out of styrene & then printed up some maps & posters. The cardboard stand up is the Texaco Man : ) I still need to make some displays for the counter, a cash register & perhaps a rack of snacks. I don't want to go totally crazy on the lobby interior because most of it will not show in the end anyway. That was one of the things I learned when I worked in L.A. as a scenic artist, never waste time on things that won't show on camera. : ) Notice how through the lobby windows just a hint of an interior sells it as being completely detailed.
downtowndeco Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 I added a rack of snacks. I found an image of a shelf of chips, printed out a couple sets of them, and "layered" them to create depth.
Mercman Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I added a rack of snacks. I found an image of a shelf of chips, printed out a couple sets of them, and "layered" them to create depth. I did that with this one. It's 1`/87th scale. This is the interior of the off sale at Not Quite Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. http://s8.photobucket.com/user/mercman51/library/HO%20buildings/Mr%20Rogers%20Neighborhood?sort=3&page=1
Austin T Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Looking great so far. Just out of curiosity are you the same Randy that does the DownTown Deco stuff, I figure you are with your user name but you never know.
