Rossa156 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 This is something I started after I bought a Hong Kong toy off of EvilBay. I thought I was buying a 1/24 clone of the Cox slot body and when the package was opened I found out it was a Cox-clone in 1/12 scale. I started to collect 1/12 scale parts by receiving a Tamiya Honda RA300 and a Ferrari 312B, both glue bombs. I also received a Cosworth Ford engine from some Tamiya source, Armed with these parts I began to do some cutting and putty work... I first used the Honda frunt suspension/... but opted for the 312B front suspension... Patrick To be continued... Patrick
Rossa156 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 I still have body shape issues and the interior fuel tank fabrication, but it is looking pretty good. The cost of an ABC 1/12 resin kit of a 158 is $200. Mycost so far is $10 and I'm having more satisfaction because it is all mine! Still a ways to go... Patrick
ed427vette Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Hello Patrick, Great project!! The ABC kit is way more than $200, more like $600 and it might need almost as much work. Looks good. I'll see if I have any pics that might help. I saw you ask on the other forums. I'll be following this one. Happy Holidays! Ed
Rossa156 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 I've been working on this... Moving along and ready for the body paint. I'm still stymied by the need for 13" tires, the wheels are good. Rossa156 Patrick
curt raitz Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I love how you are able to come up with these off the wall kits... I have scoured eBay and picked up some great bargains on Formula One gluebombs/previously started kits. Really good progress so far, looking forward to meeting you this Saturday @ the NNL West. When you come across a dude selling CD's of Mike Quarterman's "Motor Racing Replica News" magazines...that be me
Rossa156 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Curt, I won't be at the NNL this weekend. I made plans to be in Arizona long before the date for the NNL was changed. Now, I've missed two NNL/Wests. UGH! I bought one of the CDs from you 3 years ago! Mike's mag was the best and the CD is a great reference! Let me know of may other shows coming up near our end of the universe. Patrick
