Bill Jenkins 66 Nova Question

OK, so I just opened my first "Grumpy's Toy" 66 Nova. When I got the kit in good light, the plastic was a funky yellowish white color. It looked like it was tar stained by sitting next to the ashtray of a chain smoker for six months. Is this the normal color of the kit or is there something wrong with mine. I figured I would ask before I started building it.

I have never seen a kit look like that Ken, but I have seem AMT chrome be yellowish before...

W-409 is building that kit and the body is kinda cream color, but the undercarriage looks stain yellow. Here's the build link.

The plastic color is white at least in my kit. My pics seem to change the colors a bit, I guess it was because of a bad lightning or something... But all parts are white plastic in person, as I guess they should be.

I hope that the strange color doesn't affect to any paint or glue on your kit.

Yeah, I think I am going to degrease it,clean it in soapy water, and then hit with a good coat of primer before doing anything. I don't wanna get too deep into it before finding out the plastic is possibly junk.

Some of the plastic I've seen in kits looks just horrible but works fine with a good soak to get the mold goo off and a coat of primer. The colors they pick for these things can be appalling. I did a Camaro that was an awful orange but had great details in the chassis and engine. The Hot Wheels Camaro.

I just opened mine up last night and it is also the off white colour not to worried about it though

Being that we have industry insiders that are members of and visitors of this and other forums, you would think that all the major companies would figure out that a majority of today's builders prefer their non-snap kits in plain white. Then again...maybe they know something we don't.
