fun9c1 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Started this a couple weeks ago. This is the "stock" kit, not the "custom" kit. I've been on vaca the whole time so I've been working on it pretty steady. I'm very impressed with the way the parts fit together on this but I did have an issue with the interior side panels and the back dash being way too high as you can see in the first pic. I think I had already shaved some off before that pic was taken. I've got that pretty much straightened out now after shaving about 1/8" off the bottom of them. I just finished the bare-metal foil work today. That stuff is awesome! I'd say about 95% of the paint brush work is done. I probably won't be able to finish it before going back to work Monday but hopefully soon. I just put the body on the chassis for the pics. It's not quite ready to be put together permanantly yet. I'm building this one box stock.

fun9c1 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 yeah, I had this color in mind for it, and when I saw this can in the store I said "that's it!" It's Testor's laquer "Fiery Orange". I think this color fits a '50s Chrysler product perfectly. I just bought the Moebius '55 300 which I'd like to do this color, too, but I can't do 'em ALL this color, I guess!

Nothing major. The frame is a little warped but it doesn't take much pressure to make it straight and will be fine once it's glued, the wheels are super sloppy on the spindles. I put about 3 thick coats of paint on the spindles to get rid of the play, and the license plate decals are too big for the plate they are supposed to go on. Other than that, I have been very impressed with the quality of the detail, and the way the parts fit together. Someone else here said they had no issue with the interior fitting into the body. Strange that one would be so different from another. Maybe you won't have that issue. I think I'm actually going to finish it this weekend. Window glue is drying now and tomorrow I'll be ready to assemble the frame/interior/body. Then it's just the grill, bumpers, lights and she's done!

fun9c1 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Thought I'd post a few more pics of the progress. I finally got the interior in, although it turns out that I shaved a bit too much off the bottom of the door panels, but I'll have to live with it. Other than that, I'm real happy with the way it's turning out. I had it's issues but it was a fun one to build. All that's left now is installing the frame assy, tailights, bumpers, and painting the front turn signals. Next post will be in the "under glass" section.

It`s like they are a little bent so the pins at the bottom of the panel will not fit the floor all at the same time. Makes it a little anoying when you are doing the mock-up,but with some patience it should be okay in the end. I'll need to go out into the daylight to get good pics which ain't gonna happen now until Saturday unfortunately. I'm no photographer... I'll start another thread with my experience and helpful hints within the next few days. I'm pretty psyched about how this turned out. Probably my personal best. I'll post better pics next weekend. Cameras really show the dust, don't they......
