Ekhatch Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Hello I'm Richard. I haven't done a model in a long time and here recently I've started back up and I found this site. I'm working on the ford f1 right now to get me back into it and I'll share the build process as I go
Skypower Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Looks like your gonna have some fun, welcome back to modeling I'm brand new to modeling myself, these guys are a great bunch and a lot of help when needed.
Ekhatch Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 I started by mocking the exterior up seeing how I want everything to fi The outside of this I want to be just about all stock parts with this kit. I didn't really want to add anything extra. I dechromed all the chrome parts and added rust colors to them. I want the body an all to be perfect but all the chrome rusty. I guess you can say I wanted a rat rod look with this.

mike 51 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 All those "chrome" parts were actually polished stainless steel..didn't rust. FIW.
Ekhatch Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 All those "chrome" parts were actually polished stainless steel..didn't rust. FIW. Yea I know that but I still wanted the rusty look to all the pieces that it came with
Ekhatch Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 I finished the motor with one of detail masters distributor kits and I put the carb stacks on it I started the interior with a leather look. Something that would have been used to restore the car now days. And started the door panels the same way
Ekhatch Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 The finished door panel And the start of the dash I fished the cab and installed the seat, gas tank, and battery. I painted the wheels red then added some driven on grease look to them to keep with the theme This is the finished product
slusher Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Nice work so far. I try to spray as many parts as I can. Paint will be even and project move faster...

Ekhatch Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 Nice work so far. I try to spray as many parts as I can. Paint will be even and project move faster... Right now I'm trying to get a airbrush set up. So I'm reading and deciding on which one will be best. But until then I just hand paint and call it a day. Lol

They would have looked like 1:1s abandoned in an overgrown field.

Ekhatch Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) I took my modeling to a level I never have before. I used some bondo and deleted the door handles, the wiper arm holes, and the holes in the bed for the wood slats it came with I also stopped by the local hobby store an picked up a seatbelt set Edited January 18, 2014 by Ekhatch
tbill Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 looking good, really like how your seat came out, and the rust looks terrific.
Ekhatch Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 looking good, really like how your seat came out, and the rust looks terrific. Thanks. I really wish it looked like it had more leather feel to it. I'm been trying to do some new interior things since I started modeling again. This is just the first.
