Mike, there was an article in the March 2007 issue of FSM, showing how to use Future to improve clear parts, especially if they're scratched. They show an airplane canopy, but car windows would use the same method. I'll PM you with the instructions.

I have never used Future on windows, but I'm sure it will help. I usually polish mine with "The Treatment" model wax (available from, for example, Detailmaster) before I mount them, and it works great. It will polish and protect at the same time, and it is great for polishing paint as well.

There is an item advertised on TV used to fill and polish scratches on plastic eyeglass lenses. Can't remember the name but it is on all of the time. I haven't tried it, but sounds like it would work.

The product is called the "LENS DOCTOR" , I have looked for it in a couple of the Drug store chains to no avail . It does seem like it would work well on scratched plastic . If anyone knows of a source please let us know .

Take care and see you around the club house ,

Its real simple, take your clear part, dip it in Future, touch the corner to a paper towel so the excess wicks away, let it dry in a dust free place. Works great. You can brush it on if you've already installed the glass, but the dipping method works better.

If you screw it up, take some windex, clean the Future off and try again.

If you want to clean fingerprints and smudges go to your nearest PepBoys or any place that sells Meguiar's Clear Plastic Detailer and apply it and polish with a soft cloth. Also Novus #1 available at hobby shops. For minor scratches use Novus #2. Make sure you use a white glue to glue windows in place because it's safer on plastic than any other type.

future is your friend. your multipurpose friend.

seriously.

use it as a glass-clearer, a barrier to super glue "fog", a small-space gloss finish applier, a decal-protector, a small part and window attacher and just one dip in it as described above will pretty much negate any small scratches or smudges or what have you.

and if you spill it on the floor it makes it look nice too! who woulda thunk it?
