Porscheman Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I posted these pictures of my 1:1 928 because I just finished the Tamiya 1:20 928 and posted it in Underglass. My Porsche is a 1982 928 with a Competion Group with a 5 spd, which is the same as a 928S offer in 1983. It's #592 of 1132 imported in 82 and one of 16 with the Competion Group. Oh did I mention it has NOS I am the third owner, original owner was a Jersey State Trooper and then my buddy Big John who only put 130 mile on it in 12 year. The car has 92,046 miles on it now, which 600 miles are mine since 2007. All restoration was done by myself, which includes interior, rebuilt engine and minor body work. This is a fun car to drive with my fastest top end of 162 at Pocono Raceway for a PCA weekend early last year. Enjoy the pictures of the most understated Porsche. Thanks for looking. jeffs396 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Very cool Al I've always loved these 928s, and yours looks GREAT! Nice work!
cobraman Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That's a real nice car. I always liked the 928.
Porscheman Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Thanks Jeff and Ray. The only thing I don't like about my car are the pewter wheels. A PCA member said these can be polished out to a chrome finish, but said it is extremely labor intensive. I have other these that need to be done first.
Porscheman Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Oscar, the 162 was without nitrous. The system was a dealer installed back in 82. The dealer told me that with age of the car (32 years), the NOS could destroy the engine. The bottle is fully charged, but I disconneted the switch. Was the 162mph with nitrous assist?
cobraman Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I have seen those wheels polished out. You could shave in them !
Foxer Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) I had five 924/944's and always oogled the 928's ... Porsche's first clean sheet design ... and they nailed it! Edited January 25, 2014 by Foxer
