I recently picked up a fujimi golf mark 1 GTI kit, and i am in need of some reference pics, specifically interior, frt end , and rear end

the kit appears to be of an '82 GTI

i already did a google search for an 82 gti, and there wasnt much there..

any gti specific message boards that have a pic gallery??

I need to find some interior and engine shots yet, but here are some front and rear 3/4 views of a couple:

This one is a genuine British market car. It's also bone stock.

These next two are US models converted to Euro market specs. If your taillights are smaller than this it's an 80 or older. This one isn't 100% accurate because the rear apron is supposed to have a fairly pronounced lip right under the taillights the whole way across the back. Whomever did this one didn't get the Euro sheet metal, they only got their hands on the lights.

This one also has a motor transplant, but being a Fujimi, yours is a curbside I'll bet.

Your kit should be a Euro market version, so I won't bother with our market's model here. The biggest site devoted to VW's on the net is VWvortex

I'm trundling through the MkI Golf/Jetta forum right now digging for some accurate interior shots for you. If you don't know what to look for, you'll get lost, for it's a BIG place!

Oh yeah, do you have a pic of the box to post? I could tell you what year the boxart is depicting at least. I also have never seen a Fujimi MkI golf yet.

I'm really bad on my years other than knowing if its a MK1 or MK2 etc...etc... but I have a ton of pics from shows I've been to. Let me see what I can dig up. :D

Heres some to start with....

Here's some more pics.

This one shows that line I was taking about:

Here's one more front 3/4 shot:

Here's some interior shots, but they're not so easy to find.

This one is a detail of US instruments, but I doubt you can see that on the finished product! :D

This one shows the seat material used on many years. I think I've seen something similar in decal form somewhere....

The dash in this one is '79 and back, but the seats didn't change much. Later ones had vertical stripes in the center sections.

Those are a lot of great pics KK, but the ones of the MkI's are all US market cars. Only one of them is old enough to have the Euro front clip. The taillights are also a bit different on our market cars from '81 up. I'm just trying to clarify any questions that might come up; not trying to be rude or anything like that. I'm just a stickler for detail, and this is a subject I know well. James, if you have any more questions I'll be more than happy to answer them.

thanks for the great pics guys!!!

dub, it appears from the box contents that you can build either the early metal bumper car, or the later plastic bumper cars, and it includes the sideskirts/fender flares and lower airdam for the even later version.

it also includes standard single headlamp grille, and the dual lamp grille, kit is rt hand drive only

body appears accurate, but it is a curbside, and what appears to be achassis converted from a motorized kit, but as bad as some ive seen.

i will attempt to post some pics, otherwise i will try and email them to you..

Ahh! I have seen pics of that kit's box before. That blew some cobwebs out of the memory! Is that currently available anywhere? I just got a re-pop of the Fujimi MkII Golf last week from Tower. Did they re-pop the MkI too? If so, I'm gonna have to re-fill the 'ol Paypal account! B) Thanks for the pics, they tell me a lot about it. I've been trying to find any MkI kit for about 9 months and just haven't had much luck.

i just picked it up a few weeks ago from my LHS..went in there looking for the new revell '55's, and walked out with this...

didnt see it at either tower or HLJ when i looked a few minutes ago...

now to decide which way to build it!?!?!?

and after looking at tower website, i may just need to pick up that mkII kit as well....

funny considering i'm not a VW guy....

guess it brings back memories of the '78 diesel rabbit dad drove when he went back to college that was 2 hours away...
