jrherald420 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Got this in a box of stuff built in the 70's. This is all that i found for it. I think its a 1964 Dodge Polara, but it it worth anything? Whats funny is i found the glass and front bumper for a JOHAN on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Models-Kits-/1188/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Dodge+Polara+model IMG_0228 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_0229 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_0230 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_0231 by jrherald420, on Flickr
'70 Grande Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 ...but it it worth anything? Yes, its worth the time and effort for a good "rebuild" in my opinion! And yes, it's the 1/25 Johan '64 Polara, and in my opinion, probably worth about $20 in this condition on that large auction site. These Johan kits were always very well executed when it comes to the body proportions, emblems and detailing. It needs some work, but definitely worth the efforts; go for it!
jrherald420 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 I dont rebuild, i just wanted to save it from the junk box and maybe even destruction.
disabled modeler Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I had one as a kid loved building it and yes it was made by a company called Johan...they made kits of cars no one else did...some of the best kits in my opinion. You have the same great attitude as me on things...why let it go to waste...I rebuild many models and promos most of mine come from garage sales in the summer time.
jrherald420 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 OK so Facebook is saying its a 440 not a Polara
pack rat Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 It's a modified/altered Polara. Johan issued the original annual back in '64, with the correct Polara side trim. It was reissued later in the '60's (I believe the Hemi was added at that time). It came back in the '70's as the '64 Dodge Super Stock (GC-2864), with the prominent Polara mid-body trim removed. That's the one you have...the missing trim might lead someone to identify it as a 440.
jrherald420 Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Good to know, i ended up selling it to someone that is going to restore it.
