BenDover78 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Ive haven't finished a model in forever so I figured ide go with one of the trucks on my favorites list. Got the suspension under it today, she looks good.http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w599/ChevyGuy789/1962chevy003_zps356ea738.jpghttp://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w599/ChevyGuy789/1962chevy002_zps2e68632c.jpghttp://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w599/ChevyGuy789/1962chevy001_zps27232bdf.jpg Sorry for the lack of pics, Ill get more as I get closer to finishing.
Fabrux Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Looks pretty good! Although I would say that your Christmas tree is a little low; the plow lights should be above the hood. Where did you get the plow rigging? And the rims?
BenDover78 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I didn't know that. Ill fix that soon. The rims were resin cast from Scenes Unlimited, and plow rigging was from the GMC plot truck kit.
mikemodeler Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 A friend of mine had a 66 K20 that he converted over to a newer plow setup like this one and the lights were about that high, although I think he raised them later with some blocks. With as high as that truck sits, they should be okay as is. How did you create the 4x4 setup on this truck? I am looking to do a couple of them myself and am not sure if I should scratchbuild the drivetrain or adapt an existing setup.
BenDover78 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Ill take some pics of the frame and stuff. I did not go all out and make it like it would be on the real deal. I used what resources I had with the amount of time. but it may give you some ideas anyhow. Frame is from the 65 Chevy kit
BenDover78 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 it seems my camera is being a pain in the butt so, basically I used plastic tubing for the lift kit part and for the mounts themselves I cut small squares and mounted them in the spot that would level them out. On the front where the plow bracket is, there are 2 little pieces of plastic coming off the side of it, that is where the leafs are mounted.
BenDover78 Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 There is now paint on the truck, waiting for it to dry to finish the weathering process.http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w599/ChevyGuy789/IMG_20140208_174754_zps35f030a2.jpg
