every second counts Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 HI everyone my name is Ewan and i am a styrene addict, i recently got back into building models after a looong hiatus. Built just about anything back in the day, but did settle on cars and trucks. i have been collecting models for the last few years and building when i have a chance but recently its getting addicting, buying, building. I have decided to concentrate on rigs for awhile, just finishing up the race car hauler i got for christmas. Will post pics when its done. I just picked up 13 trucks and 6 trailers from a guy getting out of the hobby because he had vision issues, anyway i have my hands full for awhile. cheers Ewan

peter31a Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Hey! Someone close to me! Welcome to the forum, Ewan! Lots of knowledge here. Take advantage of it. Hope you enjoy your stay. Do you meet with the group in Barrie?
every second counts Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 WHHHAAATTT THERES A GROUP OR CLUB HERE. I did not know about it, do you have details? Ewan
peter31a Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 There is an IPMS type club that meets at the Barrie Library the last Thursday of the month. Although I haven't attended one of their meetings, I know some of them from the Toronto IPMS and they seem to be an easy going bunch of builders. I believe the name is Simcoe Scale Modellers.
every second counts Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Hey peter, thanks for the info on the group, i will see if i can contact them, who knows. what is IPMS, a group or club? I would be interested in attending a meeting. cheers Ewan
peter31a Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Ewan, IPMS stands for International Plastic Modellers Society. They are traditionally more armour and plane oriented and car guys and that group usually don't mesh that well. But that seems to be changing and the IPMS Toronto and the Barrie group are very welcoming to us. Of course if you feel like driving to Toronto there are car (and truck) only groups there such as Group 25 with an event coming up next Sunday Feb 16.
