John Pol Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Does anybody know who casts a 1969 Chevy truck
mikemodeler Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Not aware of any resin cast kits, there might be some parts (grilles & bumpers) out there in resin to convert the AMT pickup to a '69. Hopefully the upcoming Ford Pickup kits (67-72 model years) will be successful and spur someone to tool up a new version of these classic Chevy trucks.
azers Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 The modelhaus has the grills and bumpers to convert the amt chevies to 69 or 67. I have some and they are excellent.
JS23U Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 69 Chevy pickup was available as an annual from both AMT and MPC. AMT seems to me as more correct. But both are quite expensive...
Bowtienutz Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Chevy truck of that vintage are readily available at swap meets for 20 bucks US they are with the 72 grille can't remember what the 69 grille looks like. But I'm sure you can get the grille from modelhaus if you really want to nitpick and want a 69.
Fabrux Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 To convert the AMT 72 kit to a 69 you'd need the grille and hood specific to 69-70. You can get away with the 72's hood if you don't mind not having the bowtie on the leading edge.
Nick Winter Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 To convert the AMT 72 kit to a 69 you'd need the grille and hood specific to 69-70. Yep Chris is right, Modelhaus had the '69-'70 hoods last time I needed one, probably I would assume still do. Nick
Bartster Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Get the '72 kit & a Boondocker Blazer kit & a resin grille. The Boondocker has the correct front bumper & bow-tie emblem for the hood as it was a '69-'70 originally & they didn't change the bumper to a '72.
Fabrux Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 My copy of the Boondocker kit doesn't have either a bowtie on the hood or a separate piece on the chrome tree. Also, the Blazer grille and hood don't fit very well on the pickup body.
Bartster Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I stand corrected ! I have the Model King version of the '72 Blazer. & of course I can't find the chrome tree, lol. I'm sure it has the bow tie emblem for the front of the hood. And know, the hoods are not interchangeable without modification.
Fabrux Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I was searching my box hoping for a bowtie as I got a 69-70 Blazer grille in a parts lot a while back! Ah well, I'll improvise.
