I have a Ford Ranger promo that I am trying to remove the factory stripes from without damaging the plastic. It's molded in purple and I'd like to save the finish. The stripe is not really a decal. It's more like a very think sticker, that is literally stuck like glue. I may be able to get a millimeter at a time with my fingernail! I've tried spirits, goo gone, (not harsh enough to cause anything I can't buff out) Nothing is working. Any ideas?

Ive used "Easy-Off" oven cleaner{yellow can, original formula} for yrs to strip old glue blobs cars/paint jobs,,in fact Ive used it on re-builds that were painted 20 yrs ago and longer and it worked. It may take 2-3 times or more to get it off,,but it will sooner or later.

I agree with Joe .

Just be sure to spray the WD-40 onto a rag or strong paper towel , and not directly on the surface of the kit .

Another product to try : H2O2 (a/k/a , Hydrogen Peroxide) .
