sonictherevenge
Ok, I had one tire I sanded with 400 grit sandpaper for like 20 minutes and the seam is still there.. What is the best way to eliminate the seam and keep the same color for the slick part. ..
Scuderia
I trim the seam with an xacto as best I can. After that I fold my sandpaper and sand the seam first to my liking, using the thinnest edge of the folded paper. From there I then 'broadsand' if you will, the rest of the contact area. If that makes sense.. Its more tedious, but but the seams are a real bear.
slusher
I also trim all tire seams with a model knife but it is something I don't rush at when I do it. I use a higher grit sand paper if I sand my tires. 800 or 1200 to smooth the seam and get a worn look.
espo
I have tried all of these methods with good results. But what I have found that works the best for me is to use a small bolt with washers to hold the tire as if in a vice. With double nuts to hold the tire in place on the bolt. The threaded end of the bolt is then tightened in a drill chuck and turn the tire at low speed against a finger nail file. Please be careful as the higher the speed of the drill the harder it is to control.
