BigBlockLyle Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Hey guys, I haven't posted any of my art on here yet, so thought I might as well show you one of my drawings. I drew this during class when we were watching a boring movie. It's an around 1934 Ford pickup with a HEMI. It has been chopped, channeled, and the frame has been Z'ed. I can't figure out what wheels to put on or what injector hat to use, so ideas are welcome. This is my first rat rod, so I plan on building it once I get everything needed to do it. Well, here it is, comments are welcome/appreciated.
Harry P. Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I've never seen a HEMI-powered rat rod!!!!
Jantrix Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Okay just to throw this up before a rat-rod "purist" gets on a soapbox, rat rods are generally thought of as "low-buck" hot rods, so a hemi might be out of place in that idea. Having said that, I'll further add, WHO BLOODY CARES, BUILD IT! A 392 hemi would be more "period" than a 426, but by all means if you wanna do it, than get crackin and if someone busts yer chops about it, just let him know that the hemi cost less than $12, so it IS low-buck.
BigBlockLyle Posted December 14, 2007 Author Posted December 14, 2007 Okay guys, the HEMI powered rat rod is an idea that I got when I thought about the later years in the rat rod popularity(I guess that's the word for it). I thought that hey, some kid might have a HEMI in the garage from one of his dad's wrecked high school rides. Or if you want to, you could say it's a custom flathead.
Harry P. Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 With the prices HEMI-powered MOPARS are bringing these days, I doubt there'd be many of them sitting in someone's barn anymore...and a low buck, HEMI-powered rat rod is a little far-fetched in the "real world", but the beauty of model cars is that the real world doesn't matter! I agree with Jantrix...you should build it! It might possibly be the first of its kind!
OldsklMike Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 That truck needs a set of wide whites on a set of Radir wheels and a 60's style scoop from a digger dragster on top of 4-97 strom's.. Here's 2 pics of rods with hemi's. Since your building this a model, do what you want. I really like the look of a Hemi in a rod and have built a couple of them and have plans for more. Here's some I have built. Enjoy, Mike
gerry78 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 maybe a lab rat rod label would be in order for the higher $ rods. i don't know about hemi's laying around in the garage but i just got a 400 bigblock mopar that was "laying " around in a garage for my 58 plymouth!
