Jantrix Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I've got a small dio in mind, the classic tree-growing-through-the-engine-less-rusting-muscle-car. So whats the best way to do the tree? Model railroad offerings aren't very realistic. Ideas, brainstorms, theories, psychic gleanings, hare-brained or not are kindly welcome.
Ramfins59 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Try using a small piece of a branch from either a tree or a shrub from your yard. You could strip any leaves from it and make it look like it's a "dead" tree...... like the rusted car.
Jantrix Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Then it's just a stick sticking out of the ground. Trees taper. Wide base (trunk), tapers as it goes up. If I'm gonna do this, I want it to really look right.
mnwildpunk Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I have to go on a search but I saw a very realistic tree made from armature wire and wrapped in paper IIRC then painted realistically and the nice thing was he could shape it to his needs hope I find the article for you wish me luck
cobraman Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I have always thought of doing a project like that using a Bonsi tree.
Baugher Garage Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I have always thought of doing a project like that using a Bonsi tree. Now that would be cool! I live tree actually growing in the engine compartment. Nice idea!!
